Taiwanese director Edward Yang dies at 59

I thought Yi Yi (2000) was so amazing when I first saw it, I took it home to my parents and watched all 173 minutes of it again the very next day. Sadly, I've had difficulty locating most of his other films. I heard there were copyright issues with most of them, except for The Terrorizers (1986), which I do have a copy of and which Frederic Jameson praised in print. Even from his brief segment in In Our Time (1982), it was evident that his talent, style, and the very register of his film language were unique. He will be missed.

How sad. :( I loved Yi Yi, because of the story and because I recognised a lot of the Taipei locations.
